Samsung R510
As with the many brands, this laptop comes in many models so we’ll be doing a general review of the overall feature. For one, it has a very hygienic keypad coating that uses silver ions to kill bacteria (considering the crazy things we do with our laptops, that’s a very good idea). Samsung hasn’t skimped on styling with a shiny gloss finish on the display cover that shifts to deep red making it a thing of beauty. Powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo running at 2GHz with 4 GB of ram with a video card from the same manufacturer, an Intel GMA X4500HD combined in the GM45 Express Chipset. The optical drive is LightScribe capable and a hard drive that can range from 120 to 320 GBytes.
For networking, the integrated 802.11a/b/g and draft-n with an additional Bluetooth transceiver capable of 2.0+EDR (no mobile broadband). Wired networking has a Gigabit Ethernet plus the older V.92modem integrated into the system. It is quite heavy at 2.7 kilograms and the styling may have gone a bit too far for the sloping underside of the laptop’s profile tends to make it hard to grasp, but the performance was quite acceptable, even for such a heavy laptop.
