Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook T5010

LifebookConsidered as a convertible with the swivel display and heavy case, you might have to shore up those arms to lug this beast around. It has a 13.3 inch large screen and is loaded with BlueTooth 2.1 mobile broadband from a Sierra Wireless MC8790 module, Intel’s WiFi Link 5300 (802.11 a/b/g plus draft n) and an optional GigaBit Ethernet option for wired network connection. Hard drives can be from the standard 160GB or optional 320/120 drives or for a lighter unit a 64GB solid-state drive fro mobile use (drives are protected with their patented shock-protection system through a g-sensor that parks the hard drives in case of a drop).
The nifty design of the Optical drive being interchangeable with an additional hard drive, a second battery or nothing to make the heavy unit a bit lighter is nice for customized use. Under strenuous testing with heavy processing and graphics, an acceptable 2.5 hours of use is standard comparable with other brands but regular office use can easily extend this to 4 hours of use. The standard battery is a 3-cell unit and getting the full 6-pack option can extend use to 6-hours (that makes it heavier). It ia a tablet PC with accompanying stylus and digitizing hardware/software to match. The weight may dissuade extended use for as said, it is quite heavy (with quite a steep price to match).
